Bio

Beverley Anderson was born in Swindon, Wiltshire, England in 1962 where she lives and works today. As a child carer her focus was on the physical and emotional wellbeing of her mother. Her close environment of garden, local woods and seaside coves fueled her introspections on how to make sense of her world. Her creativity began early in the form of improvised textile mending and drawing plants gathered from the garden. This later developed into her love of creating textile sculptures but she is predominantly a painter today.

Beverley trained in fine art and was awarded a BA (hons) Fine Art (Drawing for Fine Art Practice) in 2011, Bath University, UK, having instant success with her work selected for the prestigious Cork Street Open in London’s showcase Fine Art Galleries district the same year. This was closely followed by having work regularly selected for The Royal West of England Open, Bristol, The Art Society of Bath Open, The Black Swan Open, Frome and The South West Open, Trowbridge among others. Beverley now has work in collections in the United Kingdom, America, Canada and France.

Beverley continues to learn, taking workshops in pursuit of evolving her work. She developed her own experimental drawing workshops teaching artists to find and grow their visual vocabulary and curated exhibitions helping to build the confidence of artists wishing to show their work. The wellbeing of the artist, their ability to come to an understanding of themselves and to speak authentically through their work being foremost in her mind.

Her work spans genres and is underpinned by a focus on art as a means of sense making. Her work is uniquely her own. She dances through paintings with a hard won trust of her processes. She is joyful and celebratory of life and believes art is life and life is art. For her being creative is living and searching for something tangiable in a world with more questions than answers.
